PURPOSE
Sampling of crude oil representative sample in oil wells product stream at the mouth, at the meters, in
main and bypass pipelines.
The samplers design provides two sampling methods:
- automatic;
- manual.
In addition, two sampling methods are provided by the sampler design.
1 METHOD
When performing spot sampling, 100% of the crosssection of the product flow is covered. This technical solution, applied in automatic samplers, allows covering 100% of the product flow cross-section during the spot sampling, which increases the reliability of the sample. The automatic sampler transfers a combined sample to a tank, which is made of spot samples at a specified interval (acc. to time or product volume).
Thus, the composition of the sample in the tank is maximum identical with the true composition of the product which has passed through the sampler.
2 METHOD
A spot sample is taken across the width of the product cross section. The design of this device
provides turbulent mixing of the ascending flow and allows a high-speed sampling of the spot sample
across the width of the flow cross-section. At the time of sampling no isokinetic condition is violated, which
allows obtaining a representative sample.
