Vertical steel tanks are vertical vessels for accumulation, storage, preparation, and metering of crude oil, petroleum products, and other liquids. Depending on their design features, vertical cylindrical tanks are divided into the following types:
1. fixed-roof tanks without pontoons (VST);
2. fixed-roof tanks with pontoons (VSTP);
3. floating roof tanks (VSTFR).
The main support structures of the tank include: a shell together with nozzles and hatches, a bottom annular plate, a frameless roof, a framework, and a support ring of the framed roof, a shell anchorage, and stiffening rings. The tank enclosure structures include: a central part of the bottom, a fixed roof deck, a floating roof, and a pontoon.
The aluminum dome-shaped roof has all necessary equipment required for the tank operation. These aluminum alloys have been used in structural units for more than 40 years. They are almost as strong as steel, being 3
times lighter. These aluminum alloys exhibit higher corrosion and cold resistance. The dome-shaped roof is designed for a particular Customer, taking into account the specific features of each tank and local climate (snow and wind loads, seismic activity).
